01 — The idea

What I want
to explore.

About this work

Product Design UI/UX Design Mobile & Desktop

Couch Brats is a social platform concept that gives cats the spotlight. It is designed for owners who want to share their cats’ personalities and everyday moments, and for cat lovers who enjoy discovering and connecting over that content.

The initial focus is entertainment and community. Over time, the platform could also help people discover useful cat-care information and relevant products and services. Advertising from cat-related businesses is the proposed revenue model.

My role

As Product Designer / UI/UX Designer, I will plan the research, define the early product scope, and design and test the concept across mobile and desktop.

02 — The opportunity

A shared interest.
Cats in the spotlight.

Sharing a cat’s everyday moments can be a form of self-expression for their owner and entertainment for someone else. Couch Brats starts with this exchange: giving owners a stage for their cats and an audience that shares their enthusiasm.

The opportunity I want to explore is what could make that exchange compelling enough for people to join and return to a dedicated community.

03 — The audience and potential value

Who to learn from
first.

I plan to learn from two initial groups:

Cat owners who share — people who post their cats’ photos, videos, and everyday moments. The potential value is a dedicated place to express their cats’ personalities and connect with an interested audience.

Cat lovers who browse and engage — people who enjoy cat content, whether or not they own a cat. The potential value is entertainment and connection around a shared interest.

04 — Research questions

Questions guiding
the next stage.

These questions will guide my research into people’s current habits, motivations, and experiences.

Question 01

How do people currently find, share, and engage with cat content?

Question 02

What do people enjoy about browsing or sharing cat content, and what, if anything, feels missing?

Question 03

What brings people back to the accounts or communities they already follow, and what can I learn from that for Couch Brats?

05 — Next steps

What I plan
to do next.

I plan to gather exploratory input from about ten relevant people through a short survey and follow-up conversations where possible. What I learn will help me choose a focused first version.

I will then create a low-fidelity prototype, test realistic tasks with two or three people, revise based on what I observe, and develop a few polished screens.

06 — Current status

This is
the starting point.

Couch Brats is at the idea stage. I will add research findings, design decisions, prototype revisions, and results here as the work progresses.
